The following software you may need for your camera:

*libgphoto2: It is a cross-platform digital camera library. This is the de facto library and a digital camera connected to the Unix-compatible machines.

*ImageMagick: A great graphical toolkit, you can edit the in-flight photos of the entire army. With just a couple of commands from the prompt, you can convert the photos to another format, resize them, create collages, and add borders and comments too.

 * FBI: The Linux frame buffer image viewer. This makes the console environment, the frame buffer device used in graphs and images. (The kernel must enable frame buffer support.)

 * Gphoto2: This is a command-line client for the library.  Do not confuse it with the GUI application gphoto. This powerful tool allows you to download, upload, save and delete the camera image and sound.

 * The digikam: This intuitive KDE digital photo management software is easy to use, and as a front end of the libgphoto2 library services. This is the perfect client-side like myself who lives in the KDE platform.

Connecting your camera via USB

You can also use one of the handy USB card readers instead of your camera directly. In fact, this is the only way to download my photos.  When you connect your camera it is very important to make sure that the camera is turned off  before disconnecting the camera from your computer. Otherwise, the USB drivers for Linux will become very angry.

Downloading

Download all the images you like wirh the command gphoto2-P. On the other hand, gphoto2-P 1,3-5,7 will download a comma delimited file, including the digital image 1,3,4,5 and 7.Please note that the capacity of this range also exists for thumbnails and delete.

Deleting

Thumbnail good thing is that you can decide which pictures to download and what is not. You also have the ability to remove you from your camera photos. For example, gphoto2 - D 3 to delete the root directory of the memory in the camera, its third photo. To remove all of the photos from the camera recursion, run gphoto2 - Dr. If you find yourself difficult to delete images, the problem may be the path problem.

Notice some of the issues of using digital camera with linux and find the corresponding software things will become very easy to do. Just have a try.
